ARS Domain

By default, the port of the Address Resolution Service (ARS) is 5410. This is called the Well Known Port because all client-service and service-service communications are transmitted on this port.

Changing the CygNet Domain

The Well Known Port can be changed; however, this is not recommended. A change to the port requires the change to be recorded on each client computer using the CygNet Domain Connection Utility (CygConn.exe). The range of valid port numbers is 5001 to 32767.

To Change the CygNet Domain on the Host Server

  1. Open CygNet Host Manager.
  2. Click Stop to stop all services.
  3. Click Network Settings.
  4. Type the new port number in the ARS Well Known Port box.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Start to restart the services. The ARS will now communicate on the new port.

To Change the CygNet Domain on a Client Computer

Use the CygNet Domain Connection Utility (CygConn.exe).

/domain Command-Line Parameters

Most CygNet clients and toolkit applications support the /domain:<domain> command-line parameter. Add the parameter to the command-line entry to open the client or application to the specified domain.
